Mobile/Field IT Support Engineer


Location: Anywhere in Lancashire but main office is in Padiham. You will be out on-site with clients developing/supporting their PC/IT systems.

We are looking for an organised, confident and motivated individual to join our IT mobile team.

Duties can be expected to be varied and diverse. Duties include but are not limited to anything; from emptying the bins here at the office to developing and maintaining websites, to marketing our services to prospects and existing clients, to developing internal monitoring and recording systems to going out on-site at a client's location to provide anything from pc support, crawling under desks, running cables, working occasionally in noisy environments, to network support to server support to programming/interfacing ERP systems to testing and checking backup procedures. Whatever is required. Training will be given where necessary.

Candidates must have excellent organisational and communication skills, be willing to learn and listen, and are able to work on their own or as part of any team they find themselves in.

Applicants must have previous experience working in an IT support environment, preferably 2nd line support/server support. Candidates must be able to use their own initiative, be able to work under pressure and have the ability to meet deadlines. Candidates must also be able to work in a structured and disciplined manner at all times. Applicants should have programming experience, any 3GL is fine but .Net experience is preferred. Knowledge of SQL server is preferred too, but any DBMS knowledge is acceptable. Knowledge of ERP systems at any level will be an advantage.

Candidates must have a clean and full UK driving licence.

Minimum 16 hour week, Monday - Sunday 06:30-20:00 shifts. Shifts are normally 830-5pm (30 min lunch) mon-fri but a job may require doing outside these times on a Saturday or a Sunday or in an evening, or occasionally as early as 630am. A successful candidate must be flexible enough to work overtime if a disaster occurs on-site with a client. Upgrades sometimes require doing as late as 11pm and you'll be required to do some work remotely from home as part of your working week. We support the manufacturing industry and so their IT systems are mission critical to them and thus to the success of our business. Salary is dependent on experience with scope for growth as your experience with our clients and our dynamic company grows.
